WATCH: One hundred troops are working to extinguish a fire in Murcia’s Jumilla

A hundred people and two seaplanes are working to extinguish a forest fire in Jumilla that broke out early this morning, Saturday, August 13.

Firefighters are considering the possibility the fire was caused by lightning, in the area of La Patoja, in the Murcian municipality of Jumilla, close to the community of Castilla-La Mancha.

Murcia emergency services confirmed the news in a series of Twitter posts that read: “🔥🔥The #PlanInfomur is activated in its level 1 as a result of the forest fire in #Jumilla.”

“The #PlanInfomur personnel continue to work on the forest fire declared in La Patoja, #Jumilla, where air and land resources have been deployed.”

“The forest fire declared in the area of La Patoja, #Jumilla, where they continue to work the troops of the #PlanInfomur, goes to SITUATION 2.”

The latest update around 11:58.AM confirmed that: “Unified command of the Advanced Command Post deployed in the fire declared in the area of La Patoja de Jumilla by the #RegióndeMurcia, to coordinate the means of the different agencies mobilized in the area.”

Twitter user Jorge David Martínez Ruiz, uploaded a video in a post that read: “Images of the fire last night, firefighters from Jumilla, Yecla and environmental forestry brigades were trying to fight the fire.”
