The siege at the Hayat Hotel in Mogadishu by Al Shabab members has been brought to an end with at least 40 people thought to be dead.

After a siege that lasted 30 hours, all of the Al Shabaab members who took hostages in the Hayat Hotel in downtown Mogadishu have been killed, according to a Somali police spokesman. A full statement will be made by the force later today they said, as reported by the BNN Newsroom.

An Al-Shabaab spokesman in charge of the military Abdiasis Abu Musab had earlier claimed that there were at least 40 persons dead, with around 70 more injured.
