The Spanish National Police have arrested a UK fugitive wanted for drug trafficking with a life sentence in the United Kingdom, in the town of Arona, Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

The investigation into the UK fugitive detained in Tenerife, Spain, began in April 2022 when the British NCA (National Crime Agency) informed the Spanish National Police fugitive tracking agents of the possible escape of the fugitive to Spain.

The fugitive was wanted by the United Kingdom for events that took place in 2022 after being sentenced to life imprisonment for being the leader of a criminal organisation based in Scotland, which was dedicated to the production and storage of large shipments of cocaine and diamorphine, as well as its subsequent distribution throughout Scotland.

The police made multiple enquiries in various Spanish cities such as Alicante, Malaga and Ibiza until he was located on the island of Tenerife, where he was finally located and arrested in the town of Arona.

The news comes after the Spanish Police arrested one of the top 10 wanted fugitives in Spain, as reported on Wednesday, August 10.

The Spanish National Police’s most wanted list includes fugitives with different criminal profiles, some of them wanted for more than 15 years, and who could be potentially be hiding in Spain.
