UPDATE: Suspect in Atlanta, Georgia shooting incident denied bond by Fulton County judge

A judge in a Fulton County court has refused to grant bond to the female suspect in the Atlanta, Georgia shooting incident in which two people died.

Atlanta Police Department has identified Raissa Kengne as the person detained on the evening of Monday, August 22, as reported by fox5atlanta.com.

The police had turned out at around 1:45pm local time in response to a 911 call for a shooting reported at 1280 W. Peachtree Street, at the corner of 16th Street. On arrival at a condo building on 1280 West, they discovered two gunshot victims. One was already dead and the second was rushed to a local hospital.

A second 911 call was received at 2pm local time, this time at 1100 Peachtree Street. Officers responded and found a male with a suspected gunshot injury.

Kengne was identified as a suspect and was eventually detained around two hours later as she attempted to board a flight at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport

Kengne appeared before a judge at Fulton County judge at 11.30am on Tuesday, August 23, where she was refused bond. She stands accused of murdering 41-year-old Wesley Freeman, and 60-year-old Michael Shinners, and of injuring a third male.

A 68-year-old male, Michael Horne, has been named as the survivor of the shooting, along with a fourth man, Zamir Steed, who the defendant allegedly shot at but missed.

As confirmed by Atlanta Police this evening, a suspect, believed to be a female, has been taken into custody in Atlanta, Georgia. One person was shot dead, and two more injured, in a shooting incident in Colony Square.

According to breaking news reports on social media this evening, Monday, August 22, an active shooter is at large in Colony Square in Atlanta, Georgia. It is believed that at least three people have been shot and the gunman has not been captured, according to Breaking News 24/7.

As can be seen from footage posted online, there is a large police presence at the scene, along with medical teams tending to the wounded. Atlanta Police Department has warned everyone to stay indoors in the area of Peachtree from 12th to 15th St.


Colony Square is located in Midtown Atlanta and comprises three skyscrapers connected by the Colony Square Mall. It is the oldest high-rise development in Midtown.
