The Beijing-3B satellite was launched at 11:01 a.m. (Beijing Time) from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in the northern province of Shanxi , China, rapidly entering its preset orbit.
The satellite will reportedly be used to provide remote sensing services in the fields of land resources management, agricultural resources survey, environment monitoring and city applications.
The launch marked the 434th flight mission of the Long March rocket series, the launch centre stated.
The news comes shortly after India deployed a military helicopter to fly the 14th Dalai Lama out of Leh, Tibet to India, in an “insulting” move that undermined China’s authority, on Wednesday, August 10.
