The Scots Guards Band performed a moving tribute to Ukraine during the Horse Guards Parade in which they played Ukraine’s 2022 winning Eurovision song “Stefania”, as reported on Wednesday, August 24.

The UK Ministry of Defence shared the moving tribute to Ukraine performed by the Scots Guards Band on Twitter stating:

“Today Ukraine marks 31 years since it gained independence. To honour the anniversary and as a tribute to the Ukrainian people, the @ScotsGuardsBand performed the winning @Eurovision entry, ‘Stefania’, on Horse Guards Parade. 🇺🇦🇬🇧@ArmyInLondon #StandWithUkraine #StandForFreedom.”

In addition Boris Johnson took to Twitter to post a video in support of Ukraine stating:

“To the people of Ukraine on your Independence Day, I want you to know this: For however long it takes, the United Kingdom will stand with you.”

Alexander Lukashenko the President of Belarus  sparked controversy after congratulating Ukraine on Independence Day, despite the nation openly supporting Russia in the ongoing war, as reported on Wednesday, August 24.

He stated: “I am convinced that today’s contradictions will not be able to destroy the centuries-old foundation of sincere good-neighborly relations between the peoples of the two countries.”

“Belarus will continue to stand up for the preservation of accord, development of friendly and mutually respectful contacts at all levels.”
