As every year, the Consell’s Environmental Education Programme will give Mallorcan schoolchildren the opportunity to enjoy a range of fun and interactive activities with.

The vice-president and councillor for Sustainability and the Environment of the Consell de Mallorca, Aurora Ribot, and the island director for the Environment, Inmaculada Férriz, presented the Environmental Education Programme for the 2022- 2023 school year on September 15. The new programme has a total of 16 interactive educational activities.

The programme of workshops is divided into four units: natural environment, ethnological heritage, maritime heritage and classroom activities. The activities are aimed at classroom groups of all ages and last from 50 minutes to three hours.

Aurora Ribot said: “These environmental education activities aim to bring students closer to the natural environment and awaken climate awareness in them. This is very important, as this generation will have to lead the transition to a different, more sustainable model.”

“Many of these children do not have the opportunity to see all the natural wealth that can be found in Mallorca or do not have access to basic knowledge on environmental issues. Making it accessible to them is essential in fighting against inequality. For this reason, we offer these activities free of charge,” she added.
