Putin discusses global market ban of Belarus’ fertilisers with President Lukashenko

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to discuss various topics including the global market ban on fertilisers, as reported on Monday, September 26.

While discussing the global market ban of fertilisers with President Lukashenko of Belarus, Putin stated:

“Dear Alexander Grigoryevich, we have met with you quite recently in Samarkand and planned to discuss bilateral issues there, primarily, of course, in economy and not only in the field of security. But the work in Samarkand was really intense, there was a lot of contact with colleagues.”

“We have a big enough volume of problems to discuss, so we have agreed to see each other separately in Sochi. Therefore, I am glad that you found time to come and talk about all the issues that we planned to discuss back in Samarkand.”

“Here, I repeat, there are many issues concerning the situation in the region, but equally important are economic issues, including a number of areas we discussed earlier, and work within the framework of the Union State construction, issues related to our plans in chemistry, food, fertilisers.”

“Unfortunately, supplies of Belarusian fertilizers to global markets are still blocked. It is very strange, because world markets, especially developing countries, urgently need these products. But nonetheless, it still happens.”

“We have concrete plans in some areas, in some major projects. You and I have already talked about this before. In general, the Government has prepared these projects for implementation. We will discuss all of this. I am very glad to see you. You are welcome.”

The news follows reports that UK Geneva Ambassador Simon Manley delivered a statement on the human rights situation in Belarus, as well as their support of Putin’s aggression in Ukraine, as reported on Friday, September 23.
