Social media and TV presenters in Spain reacted critically to statements made by Isabel Preysler’s daughter Tamara.
The controversy arose after statements Tamara made while speaking at the World Congress of Families in Mexico, a conservative pro-family platform.
The comments she was criticised for included “Now we are living a very complicated moment for all humanity, there are so many different types of sexualities, there are so many different places where to do evil. I think that in other generations it was not so obvious.” which many interpreted as referring to different sexual orientations.’
However, the socialite made statements on Spanish TV show El Hormiguero (“The Anthill”) and on Instagram addressing the issue. “For a few days I have been accused of being a homophobic. Nothing is further from reality. The word ‘deviations’ referred to behaviours that my ex had and that were not aligned with my way of understanding life as a couple,”
“My break up is not an issue that I wish to discuss in public and I feel I have to make this clarification. Likewise and although it was not my intention I apologise to any group that has been attacked by my statements. I reiterate that I would never want evil to anyone and even less incite hatred.”
