FIREFIGHTERS from the Benidorm brigade assisted an elderly British woman in difficulties in the El Moralet woods near the TRAM station.

Fire brigade sources explained later that she had taken a wrong turning on her mobility scooter and found herself on one of the many paths amongst the pines leading to the recently remodelled urban park.

She fell after losing control of the vehicle but a group of young people who were out exercising saw the accident and contacted the Emergency Services. They in turn sent out the firefighters who went to the aid of the woman who, despite her fall, was uninjured.

This minor accident was preceded last August by a serious accident on the Sierra Helada when a 58-year-old British woman lost her life after her hired mobility scooter plunged down a steep slope.  Her grandchild, aged 8, who was on the scooter with her was seriously injured, while a male companion who tried to save her was also hurt.
