TWITTER quickly filled with jokes following the shock resignation of Liz Truss as UK Prime Minister on Thursday, October 20, with one account revealing that King Charles had made a surprising new appointment for the role.

Liz Truss sensationally resigned as UK Prime Minister on her 45th day in the role – making her the shortest PM in history – and Twitter was quick to point out the absurdity of it all with one post going viral after jokingly revealing what King Charles said.

As noted, Ms Truss announced that she had spoken to King Charles to tender her resignation, saying that the leadership election is “to be completed within the next week.”

This led to Larry the Cat tweeting: “The King has asked me to become Prime Minister because this nonsense has gone on long enough.”

People were quick to comment on the post.

“The wiser choice…” one person wrote.

Another said: “This might be the only rational way forward for the UK.”

“Indeed,” said another.

“LARRY FOR PM,” announced another person on the social media platform.

The Daily Star was quick to make fun of the situation too.

They wrote on Twitter: “BREAKING NEWS:

🚨 THE LETTUCE HAS OFFICIALLY OUTLASTED LIZ TRUSS AND WON 🚨

ALL HAIL THE LETTUCE.

🥗🥗🥗”
