Adif to install more than 1,000 electric vehicle charging points across Spain

Adif y Adif Alta Velocidad has signed a contract worth €28.8 million to install more than 1000 electric vehicle charging points in Spain across all autonomous communities  

More than 1,000 charging points for electric cars will be set up in Spain by Adif y Adif Alta Velocidad, after they signed a contract on Tuesday, February 7.  

The project which aims to cover all autonomous communities will be completed at a cost of €28.8 million.  

According to La Vanguardia, this project is a commitment by Adif towards “the development of electromobility in Spain” as it aims to “promote clean transport in transfers to and from the train stations”. 

This project will receive funding from the European Union and is scheduled to be executed within 30 months.  

The aim to install the electric charging ports is a part of Adif´s “Plan to Fight Climate Change”.  

Through this plan, the company wants to promote “sustainable mobility and electromobility as a tool to meet the objectives of decarbonization of economic activity”.  

The list of car parks where these electric chargers will be installed includes the following:  

  • In Andalusia:  Algeciras, Almería, Antequera Santa Ana, Cádiz, Córdoba, Granada, Huelva, Jaén, Málaga María Zambrano, Genil Herrera Bridge, Ronda, Seville Plaza de Armas, Seville Santa Justa, Seville Virgen del Rocío.
  • In Aragon: Teruel, Zaragoza Delicias, whereas, in Asturias at Gijón Sanz Crespo, Oviedo.
  • In Cantabria: Santander.
  • In Castilla-La Mancha: Albacete Los Llanos, Alcázar de San Juan, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Cuenca Fernando Zóbel, Guadalajara Yebes, Puertollano, Tarancón and Toledo.
  • In Castilla y León: Burgos, León, Medina del Campo, Medina del Campo AV, Palencia (two different parking areas), Ponferrada, Salamanca, Segovia Guiomar, Soria, Valladolid, Zamora.
  • In Catalonia: Barcelona-Clot Aragó, Barcelona-Estació de França, Barcelona-Sants, Camp de Tarragona, Figueres, Figueres-Vilafant, Girona, Lleida-Pirineus, Sils. 
  • In the Community of Madrid: Madrid Chamartín Clara Campoamor, Madrid Puerta de Atocha Almudena Grandes and Villalba de Guadarrama. 
  • In the Valencian Community: Alacant Terminal, Castellón, Requena Utiel, Valencia Cabanyal, Valencia Joaquín Sorolla, Valencia Estació del Nord, Villena, Xátiva. 
  • In Extremadura: Merida. 
  • In Galicia: A Coruña, Ferrol, Lugo, Monforte de Lemos, Ourense, Ourense San Francisco, Pontevedra, O Porriño, Redondela, Santiago, Vigo Guixar, Vilagarcía de Arousa. 
  • In La Rioja, Logrono. 
  • In Navarra: Pamplona, Tudela de Navarra. 
  • In the Basque Country: Bilbao Abando Indalecio Prieto, Irún. In the Region of Murcia, Cartagena and Murcia.
