Death toll in German city of Hamburg confirmed as seven with gunman taking his own life

Update February 27 (3.10 pm) – Earthquake in Turkey kills one person as more buildings fall

An earthquake measuring 5.6 magnitudes resulted in the death of one person on Monday, February 27.

According to official reports cited in Reuters, over 111 people have been injured and further 29 buildings have collapsed in the country

Rescue workers rushed again to save people as several are believed to be trapped under the debris.

Authorities have also asked people to stay away from the damaged building as they could also collapse.

February 27 (10.50 am ) – Another earthquake hits Turkey measuring 5.6 magnitudes

Authorities in Turkey have said that a 5.6-magnitude earthquake hit the country on Monday, February 27.

The statement about the recent quake was made by the disaster management agency AFAD, as cited by TRT which said that the Turkish province of Malatya was hit.

AFAD has earlier announced that the death toll in Turkey after the earthquake on February 6 has increased to 44,218.

Authorities in Turkey and Syria claim that the total death toll in both countries has surpassed 50,000 deaths.

February 21 (2. 17 pm) – Turkey and Syria were hit by another earthquake killing six people and injuring hundreds 

The death toll after another earthquake hit Turkey and Syria has increased to six, as officials have said that hundreds have been injured.  

Authorities on Tuesday, February 21 said that the epicenter of the 6.4 magnitude earthquake was near the Turkish city of Antakya and tremors were felt in Syria, Egypt as well as Lebanon.  

Turkey´s disaster and emergency management authority cited by Reuters said that the earthquake was followed by over 90 aftershocks.  

As per the Turkish health ministry, at least 294 people have been reported injured after the most recent earthquake and have been evacuated to health centres. 

The earthquake happened at a time when rescue operations have been almost stopped in Turkey after more than 47,000 people were reported dead in both countries.  

Authorities have reported that hundreds of thousands of houses have been destroyed after the earthquakes on February 6.
