Officials in Spain identified 15 passengers who were involved in a fight onboard a flight from Norway to Spain.

A major fight broke out between passengers on a flight from Norway to Spain resulting in the crew contacting the police.

According to 20Minutes, the fight took place while the plane was flying from Oslo to Alicante, onboard a flight operated by Air Europa.

Official reports state that 15 passengers of Norwegian origin on a flight between Oslo and Alicante were identified on arrival at Alicante airport for allegedly being involved in a fight inside the plane due to alcohol consumption.

The flight had left Oslo and landed without delay at Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández International Airport, where, once on the ground, the passengers involved in the altercation were identified by Guardia Civil officers and security service personnel.

Sources suggest that the fight took place in the back of the plane and the cabin crew alerted the arriving airport to coordinate the police.

it’s about time that the consumption of alcohol in airports & on the plane were banned, there’s nothing worse than being stuck next to a drunk passenger that is a noisey nuisance to everyone on board.

            Doug, I think Janes

Really Doug ? what an awful comment to make. These people are commenting on drunks and troublesome passengers, not toward decent people with genuine medical problems, but your comment tells people alot about you.

You don’t need.to be drunk to go to the toilet a lot during a flight. Older people often have urinary problems and probably go the the toilet more often than a drunk person.

The story is not complete. The fact that Norwegians could’ve been humiliated by someone is not even considered. They were drunk, meaning guilty – a typical European “stay safe and obey” crap.

I remember some years ago I was on a plane and I witnessed a fight between a Polish man and an Englishman because the Englishman had farted. The smell was that bad the Pole had biffed him one then until the fight had to be broken up. The police arrived and arrested the pair at Newcastle Airport.

i also like a small wine and put my earphones on to listen to music i book an aisle seat so i can go to the toilet without disturbing anyone i don’t have any wine if its an early morning flight but if they banned alcohol so be it i can see the point i wouldn’t like to be in the air in a confined space with fighting around me.i witnessed a young lady being sick in her seat her boyfriend moved to an empty seat she fell asleep and wouldn’t wake up to get off the plane

whati think would be to stop. all drinks whilr wsiting for s flight and only tea coffe and soft drinks before the flight starts and only serve alcholic drinks whilst in flight and only one drink.per passenger weathering it be beer or spirits this will allso stop crowds that now no better to get legless before a flight and stop any who look to intoxicated on liquor even entering a airport never mine getting on.the flight what I have learnt over the years is people that do this see in considerate and have no feelings for others they inflict there behaviour upon

      • Milo Pertchevitch

        25 April 2023 • 10:05

I was a smoker and I like a drink, while travelling alcohol is unnecessary for a lot of people it makes them stupid especially on planes.
Surely they can wait until their destinations, ban it all on flights.

Totally agree. permanent worldwide ban. Zero tolerance. If you cause trouble during a flight, you never fly agsin. It’s long overdue that airlines take a unified stance on this antisocial and highly dangerous activity. Alcohol may be to blame but banning it during flights would unreasonably punish everyone. Furthermore, mosr of the alcohol involved is consumrd before the troublemakers board the Blake.

this doesn’t surprise me although they weren’t English and their destination was not the Canary Islands. I lived for a year and a half on Gran Canaria and then Tenerife Sur and was shocked at how low the quality of many Canarian natives and foreign residents were.
I finally escaped back to the peninsula last June and civilization.

As a person of twin nationality – British & Irish – I agree with your comments regarding the churlish behaviour of certain British people on board flights and at resorts abroad. I had the benefit of many enjoyable holidays in Gran Canaria, but sadly some were marred by the unsavoury behaviour of feral Brits. Now happily residing in France, I receive a warmer welcome when preferring my Irish heritage to that of my 5% British ancestry.

I agree how sad is that alcohol is so important to people. a ban on alcohol on all public transport would be the answer and believe me I like a drink as much as anybody but not in an atmosphere enclosed full of people, all I can say is surely no one is that desperate. Smoking has been banned, now it is time to ban alcohol,it causes more trouble than it is worth.

you can’t drink alcohol purchased in airport on flights anyway. although some sneaky little gits probably manage it. they banned smoking, they banned under 100ml of liquid, they banned knitting needles so they can ban alcohol consumption IF they want to.

Why spoil it for the majority who are well behaved????

      24 April 2023 • 19:09

I can’t comprehend how they go on about your safety on a plane & what to do in an emergency then within the next 45 mins they are serving alcohol to whoever wants it.After those who have guzzled in an airport lounge at thier own leisure & some for start of holiday & some for nerves.Well let me tell you if a plane went down god forbid with half of these on board they would cause obstruction for others by falling being unsteady.Anybody next to someone who consumes alcohol & has a window seat well they would be next to someone who wouldn’t move even if you tried to get out.Apart from the obvious abusive loud smelly snoring too.Think you may need to take a big vote on this.I drink & I vote no drinking on planes.

If staff at the boarding gate thinks someone is under the influence of alcohol they should deny them boarding .I overheard a conversation in duty free between two couples……We will just put the vodka into your water bottles and order the coke onboard .

    • Tempest

      24 April 2023 • 20:53

      This is an ongoing problem.
Alcohol was served in the departure lounge 2hrs before take-off, the plane was delayed ex number of hours, and more alcohol was consumed. This is the problem. An alcohol test should be done at the boarding gate. Like a breathalyser test like a roadside test. Anybody over the should be refused to board the plane. Then it is up to the cabin crew how much liquor they serve to a passenger.

    • Bill

I don’t like having to deal with drunks, stag dos, hen dos etc. Everyone’s holiday fun should start after the flight NOT before

Ban alcohol on all flights and watch the price of flights go up. Those that can’t behave themselves should be banned from air travel for life if they can’t control their drinking and their behaviour. For many people a couple of drinks on the plane is the start of their well earned holiday. At least it can be controlled on a flight. Its the bars in the terminals that are the problem.

I am in no way excusing anyone for excessive drinking on aircraft, or turning up drunk to board . However, I do somewhat blame certain countries for attempting to cut out excessive drinking / alcoholism by taxing alcohol to such an exorbitant rate that it encourages binge drinking once it is available at a much cheaper rate – i.e when getting onto a plane.
I can recall many times in the distant past, travelling out of Norway, and then, the plane stopped in another airport to pick up more passengers before onwards, out of Norwegian airspace.
By the time it took to get to its first destination point, the plane had literally been drunk dry of all it’s alcohol ! Admittedly, in those days it was free but the principle still applies.
Easy solution – allow alcohol but ban anyone disrupting a flight for any reason (including unruly behaviour for bratty children because their unfit parents can’t control them ) and antisocial behaviour for a number of years from boarding a plane – then 2 strikes then your “fine” increases .
        Or something of that nature.
Most flights do seem to be trouble free ( estimated around 90,000 pax flights a day) apart from a little irritating occurrence, well dealt with by vigilant crew .
We are talking small percentage numbers here and that can be easily policed.
This in not by any means solely a Norway related problem and I merely point out my experiences there as an example.

I have a friend who worked in a drink lounge at an airport who told me 150 ppl a week missed their flights due to being too drunk and she said they were horrible to serve too.

There are only 2 ways to solve this problem. The first is to regulate airports, airlines and introduce breathalysers.

The second is with harsher punishments and a campaign of name and shame.

Why people think it’s necessary to drink strong lager at silly o’clock in the morning, they wouldn’t get up at 4am and drink before they go to work, that’s where it needs to be stopped,at the airport’s,they should have pub opening hours like all pubs in England, stop the rot before flying, breath test the ones you think are over the limit before flying,I feel for the kids on the plane who see this.

it’s a simple answer to this behavior ban them and all ,passengers from flying from on the airline for life and other should follow as well no need for it.

I can completely understand the comments for banning alcohol, however….I am extremely nervous when flying and I find that a few glasses of wine before I board helps me. Perhaps a limit should be put in place which would stop aggressive behaviour and not penalise everyone else. Just a thought.

Total ban of alcohol is the only solution. Fighting mid air can be disastrous to all on board the aircraft if an emergency door/ window is accidentally opened causing sudden depressurization of the cabin. This can be a great danger that can cause injury or loss of life to some passengers if not all on board.

Get over yourselves . Majority of passengers drink responsibly and don’t cause a problem. Passengers who seem intoxicated should not be allowed to board . Why should the majority of people suffer because of a few idiots. I enjoy a few drinks on a flight with my meal and to relax .

Due to my job, I’ve been on at least 2000 international flights. sadly, the inter-europe flights seem to have the worst problems with drunks. we have an alcohol-guzzling culture. flights from UK to Spain appear to be the worst affected. is it impossible to go a couple of hours without alcohol? bad behaviour on flights is upsetting for everyone and, no doubt, terrifying for children . adults, think..

Limit the amount of alcohol to 2 served per passenger, a red stamp in passport for anyone arrested with a no fly ban for 10 years, no liquor to be served before 11 a m at airports , no liquor served on flights of less than 3 hours.
