A shocking incident that happened during a live news broadcast has made headlines around the world. Following the recent controversy surrounding ‘kiss-gate’ it raises the question: Is Spanish society experiencing a rise in brazen assaults?

In a deeply unsettling incident, reporter Isa Balado was sexually assaulted while reporting live on air on Tuesday, September 12. This act has ignited widespread outrage and strong calls for stringent action against the perpetrator, according to Marca.

Incident Captured Live On Air

During the live broadcast of ‘En boca de todos’ in Madrid, the incident was captured on camera. A female journalist Isa Balado, was in the street, reporting on a previous crime where a theft had taken place.

However, her report was overshadowed as an individual, who was passing by, approached her from behind and committed a sexual assault by touching her in an inappropriate way.

Balado remained professional throughout and managed to maintain her composure. She reminded the individual that she was in the middle of a live broadcast.

The event didn’t go unnoticed by the show’s studio host, Nacho Abad, who immediately intervened. Abad sought to clarify what he had just seen. A visibly shaken Balado confirmed the assault, while the man brazenly remained nearby, as if nothing had happened.

Shocked studio host Abad said: ‘I just can’t understand it. Put that man in front of me, please? Put this stupid guy in front of me.’ At that moment Isa Balado took the microphone and confronted the sexual attacker.

She turned to the man: ‘As much as you want to know which TV station we are, do you really have to grope me? I’m on a live show and I’m working.’ The harasser blatantly denied having done anything wrong. He then tried to touch her hair before he turned around and walked away.

Man Arrested Swiftly

Balado’s prompt alert to the police led to the man’s swift arrest. Within minutes, the 25-year-old Romanian man was apprehended near Tirso de Molina Square in Madrid. The individual was subsequently interviewed by officers from the Women and Families Care Unit (UFAM).

Detailing the incident, Balado stated that the man first slapped her on the buttocks and later touched her hair. While the exact legal repercussions for the inappropriate act are yet to be revealed, there has been universal condemnation.

The National Police later posted the incident on their official Facebook page and declared: ‘Detained minutes after sexually assaulting a reporter while doing a live broadcast this morning in #Madrid.’

People registered their indignation, one woman wrote: ‘What an unpleasant moment, the individual’s attitude has made me feel very uncomfortable…’ Another added: ‘How disgraceful I hope the weight of the law falls on him.’ While a third person said: ‘I find it incredible that at this point in life, these things keep happening.’
