Benidorm is gearing up to host the 20th-anniversary edition of the ‘Gran Hotel Bali International Chess Festival’ this coming December.

This event has evolved into a global benchmark in the world of chess and has garnered international acclaim over the years.

The festival, scheduled from December 1 to 10, promises to be a grand affair.

As of now, there are over 400 registered participants from 27 different countries, and this number is expected to grow as the event draws nearer.

The organisers anticipate the total number of participants to surpass 1,000, representing more than 40 nationalities.

The ‘XX Gran Hotel Bali International Chess Festival‘ is touted as “one of the most important chess events in Europe.”

This reputation is well-deserved, as it boasts an impressive 10-day duration, featuring five distinct competitions, some of which attract top-tier talent.

Over the years, it has attracted more than 1,500 athletes, setting a record for the number of participants.

The festival continues to emphasise excellence, with a highly competitive group where some of the world’s best chess players will vie for the top spot and attractive cash prizes.

In total, the prize pool exceeds €33,000.
