July 9 marked a celebratory day for La Nucia, commemorating the 319th anniversary of the town´s founding.
A programme of events was held at the auditorium, attended by the town´s mayor, Bernabe Cano and the diverse population of La Nucia. The celebration began with the presentation of the catalogue, The Topography of Valencian Towns, by professors Maria Antonia Cano and Maria Isabel Guardiola.
The catalogue revealed the geographical features of La Nucia, including its changing landscapes, rivers and hills. The presentation was followed by an exposition, Les Nostes Arrels – De An Nusayka a la Nucia, prepared by the Department of Culture and the Environmental Education Centre, featuring several artefacts from the Jose Soler Ethnographic Museum.
The exhibition at the auditorium has been divided into different spaces to reflect the rich history and transformation of La Nucia through agriculture and the various forms of trade, including stonemasons, culture, musical developments and the changing faces of international residents.
On this day, the locals celebrated the past and present generations of La Nucia, discovering its unique heritage.
The exhibition is open for public visits until September 28.
