Mojacar goes big for the San Agustin celebrations and fair Credit: Mojacar Town Hall /fb
The Mojacar festivities in honour of the Virgen del Mar are fast approaching, with the schedule recently released.
From August 22 to Wednesday 28, Mojacar will “transform into the epicentre of celebration with live music, sport and many activities for the whole family,” as stated by the organisers.
On Thursday, August 22, a day before the fair opens, there is the 13th Mojacar Paddle Tennis Tournament, at the Municipal Paddle Tennis Courts, La Mata.
Friday, August 23, at 10 pm, as well as the qualification phase of the paddle tournament at 6 pm, will see the start of the festivities with a Flamenco fusion concert from “Suspiros Flamencos”, followed by a performance from DJ SEE at midnight.
Saturday, August 24, will open the midday fair that will be on every day from 1 pm until August 28, with various entertainment acts accompanying the midday fair.
On the same day, there is the opening speech for the San Agustin 2024 Festivities by Francisco Baraza, at 11 pm, followed by the coronation of the 2024 Queen and Ladies at half past. The night will then close with an Astola y Raton concert at midnight and a DJ at 2 am.
Once again there will be the qualification phase of the paddle tournament at 6 pm on Saturday.
Sunday, August 25 will have the ribbon retrieval at 6:30 pm with a performance from the Mojacar Municipal Music Band, and the traditional ribbon race on horseback at 7 pm at the Mojacar Pueblo Fountain. The night will close with a Henry Mendez concert at 12:30 am and SEE DJ at 2:30 am.
The Mojacar Paddle Tennis Tournament will also finish on Sunday, August 25, with the presentation of the trophies to the winners.
From 9 am to 9 pm on Monday there will be a futsal tournament and a domino tournament at 6 pm. In the evening there will be traditional dancing accompanied by the orchestra, El Norte and Raul Vazco at 10:30 pm.
Tuesday, 27, from 10 am to 2 pm there will be a video game and virtual reality fair, with the traditional water ascent and floral offering to St Augustine, the patron saint, with music from the Mojacar Municipal Music Band at 7 pm.
At 10 pm, the orchestra, El Norte and Raul Vazco will once again perform, followed by a pyromusical show at 2 am.
Wednesday, August 28, will close the festivities with a mass in honour of Saint Augustine at 12 am, a procession through various streets in Mojacar accompanied by the towns Municipal Music Band.
The midday fair will be on for the last day, with entertainment from Los Chorreones at 1 pm. The children of Mojacar will have their chance at the traditional ribbon race at 6 pm.
In a bonus event, three days later on Saturday, August 31, Mojacar is holding a Golf Tournament at the Marina de la Torre Golf Course.
The organisers enthusiastically invite everyone to enjoy the festivities: “We are waiting for you to enjoy unforgettable moments together!”
