In Puerto de La Duquesa on Spain’s Costa del Sol, Salt – Fish & Meat Restaurant has quickly become a favourite among the locals and expats. Having gained a 4.8/5 rating on Tripadvisor and recently winning the 2025 Travelers’ Choice award, its popularity comes from the exceptional service with a familiar smile, fresh ingredients, and generous portions that deliver amazing value.

Those in the know all talk about the knowledgeable staff, who guide choices with enthusiasm, and the consistently hot, flavourful dishes like the renowned seafood paella and grilled turbot. The ambience is comfy and welcoming, with a distinct maritime feel with the salty Mediterranean breeze. Overlooking the port, it offers lovely views, outdoor seating, and a dog-friendly setup, creating a relaxed yet lively atmosphere perfect for a leisurely meal with friends.

Menu reflects the area and the Italian community

The menu has a fusion of Mediterranean, European, and, especially, Italian influences, going big on fresh seafood and excellent meats. Starters tempt with classics like pil pil prawns (€10-€15), garlic prawns, or a shared chef salad with succulent prawns. Great if you love prawns, but not so much for me – so I went for a delicious fish soup.

For mains, seafood lovers can indulge in grilled swordfish, sea bass, or loup de mer (€18-€25), or our choice, the super-fresh Marinera spaghetti, a tribute to the area with a nod to the local Italian community.

Meat enthusiasts can savour Angus steaks served on hot stones, tender pork cheek, or juicy rib-eye (€20-€30), with options like pork sirloin adding variety. The perfectly bilingual staff will walk you through all the different levels of ‘done’ you would like your beef.

The drinks selection complements the fare beautifully, featuring quality house wines (€15-€25 per bottle), crisp beers, and cocktails such as refreshing margaritas (€8-€12). A complimentary liqueur often caps the experience.

Lively, comfy, and a reflection of the community

The clientele is diverse, drawing couples on romantic outings, families enjoying hearty meals, and groups of friends, many with pets in tow, reflecting its inclusive appeal and who the customers are in this area.

Prices are moderate and excellent value, with complete meals for two averaging €40-€50 including drinks, making it accessible without skimping on the excellent quality.
