Town halls across the Valencian Community can now apply for a new round of subsidies designed to improve auxiliary medical clinics and strengthen local healthcare infrastructure across the region.
The funding programme, launched by the Generalitat Valenciana, will support renovation, rehabilitation and expansion projects in municipally owned consultorios auxiliares, smaller healthcare centres that provide day-to-day primary medical attention in local communities.
Municipalities can apply for up to €500,000 per project and may submit a maximum of two proposals under the scheme.
Smaller clinics play a vital role across the Costa Blanca
Auxiliary clinics are particularly important in smaller towns and residential areas throughout Alicante province, including many municipalities across the Costa Blanca and Marina Alta.
These local healthcare centres often provide essential services for ageing populations, residents living far from larger hospitals and communities that experience seasonal population increases during the tourism months.
Regional authorities said the programme aims to modernise public healthcare spaces while improving accessibility, safety and energy efficiency in medical facilities used daily by local residents.
The grants may be used for structural repairs, rehabilitation works, accessibility improvements, maintenance projects, expansions and energy-efficiency upgrades.
Projects will be assessed using technical criteria
According to the Generalitat Valenciana, applications will be evaluated based on several factors, including the condition of the existing building, the number of consultations carried out at the facility, accessibility standards and the expected impact of the proposed improvements.
Authorities said the initiative forms part of wider efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure throughout the Valencian Community and ensure residents have access to better-equipped public medical facilities regardless of municipality size.
The subsidy programme follows the Resolution of April 28, 2026, published by regional authorities. Councils interested in securing funding must complete the application process within the deadlines established by the Generalitat.
Councils expected to show strong interest
The programme is expected to generate significant interest from municipalities across Alicante province, where many auxiliary clinics require modernisation works after years of continuous use.
For smaller councils, the grants could provide an important opportunity to improve healthcare facilities without placing the full financial burden on local budgets.
As healthcare accessibility and ageing public infrastructure remain ongoing concerns across parts of the Valencian Community, the funding initiative is likely to play an important role in future local healthcare improvements.
