“Are” or “is”? When there are two subjects, Cambridge and Oxford both describe this as ‘optional’. Yes, Fuengirola is in the Costa del Sol, so it could be considered as part of one. However, at the time of writing, I wanted to express two very different subjects. Why? The loss of Owain was felt as far as Manilva and Nerja, but nowhere near as I imagine it is felt in Fuengirola. He really was an adopted son of the area who has shaped the culture in this part. Fuengirola isn’t missing him. Fuengirola are (the community). Sorry, I could chat about this for hours. It’s a topic that fascinates me. 🙂

It’s sensible to always wear a mask when flying. So many people go down with colds etc after sharing their air with a whole load of others in a confined space for a protracted period of time. A mask adds a layer of protection.

I agree and although I do not stick to them rigidly, I would love to know if the date represents “eat by” or “best before” as there is a significant difference.

Credit where it is due, at least they are acting on feedback but to be honest they and pretty much all other food manufacturers and retailers have for some time been making font sizes smaller and smaller for quite often no logical reason ie where there is plenty of space to make the writing bigger. So cooking instructions are in font size 0.001 – basically unreadable without a microscope. What bright spark thought that was sensible? What Mercadona is doing is basically just common sense, an attribute which has been completely lost recently.

Possibly 5000 new jobs and the water supply and environment destroyed forever, That is the reality of mining today but I wish the people well. I hope the jobs do exist because these companies claim massive potential employment to get the license to mine then suddenly they don´t need so many people.

Many years ago when I worked in Beijing, China, my wife and youngest daughter who was about 10 years old came to visit me for 2 month. My wife did get permission from the school to do this and when my wife asked if the school would give our daughter ´´homework for the period in China´´ the headmaster said No, he said she is going to a country where few people go and she will learn so much there. I genuinely appreciated his comments. My daughter lover it, we visited the Forbidden city many times, we walked the great wall many times, We walked around the city all the time and the people were amazing, always very kind to her and wanting to talk English with her. Her two older sisters joined us for Christmas and to this day they still talk about the experiences, they also visited Malaysia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, which was an incredible pace the Saudis were always giving the children gifts when we went out shopping. It became embarrassing and we had to tell the shopkeepers please don´t give them any gifts. But it made no difference the gifts kept coming. Also Hong Kong, another great city island, all the live markets and drinking snake blood etc. Travelling can be an incredible experience for children, the children genuinely treated these visits as educational which was impressive to see them ask all kinds of questions. The greatest compliment was from a passenger as we were arriving back at Heathrow. for some reason the children were not all sitting with us and the passenger said that he had never met such polite children and that they were incredible knowledgeable about the country they had been living in. He also said he was not happy to see he was sitting beside two children, expecting chaos and noise but he was surprised and delighted at their behavior.

Excellent final paragraph – says it all. This article exposes two very sensitive areas of concern in Spain. How many of the jobs created will go to increasing immigration, and with water a scarce commodity, is this a wise idea. There of course could be a trade off, but it should not raise concerns on those two issues any further.

Get taxed on it because the tax free has not risen for years, then, because they betrayed the UK with the Gibraltar Agreement, there are no British foods on Morrisons shelves and tobacco and drinks prices 40% higher. A few cents makes up for it???
Still, far happier to be here hoping the Brexit reverse brings them down.

The taxman will probably say the maximum exchange for this year in Spain will be 1.25 average anyway just like last year’s average which was way above what it really was..why do they always mention the pension rise for the new pension the old rate which is what many of us are on will be .nowhere near £489

Well said and the reason they make it so small is to be able to have provide the information even with a magnifying glass you still cannot read it. However it would be better if these stores actually looked at the quality of the food they are selling, most is genuinely unfit for human consumption. The contains chemicals and fillers that do nothing for the human body but increase profits for the manufacturer. So please all Spanish supermarkets is look at the quality of the food you are selling and your profit margin and try and reduce the prices so customers can also enjoy shopping.

Genuinely a non story, tell us when the rate hits 1.25 or 1.30 because it makes little difference. The shopping bills are rising a lot faster, the gas and electricity is through the roof so I guess we are still no where nearing breaking even

It will be a great day when the police open fire with live ammunition at these scums who are rioting and looting. This is pure insurrection and should be treated as such. Shoot to kill, warn the people then shoot, move forward and shoot again. This will stop the looting and fires.
