AIRBUS’ vision of the future of flight is a plane that uses a bionic structure that mimics the bone structure of birds, allowing for reduced weight and fuel consumption and making it possible to add extra features like panoramic windows.
The company plans on coating their future planes with a biopolymer membrane which could control the amount of natural light, humidity, temperature and be able to vary the transparency of the walls. The materials Airbus have in mind are nothing like what we have today, and may not even be solid. They have some very grand ideas for the next 50 plus years to come.
