ACEM President Karin Schroter presents Head Chef (left) Vincente Hernandez Vicho and Manager Juan Pedro Del Rey of La Peseta on Mojacar playa with their winners certificate which they will display proudly in the bar.
THE presentation of the long awaited winners of the 2011 Mojacar Tapas Trail which ran from the June 24 until the July 17 took place in the evening a week ago.
The competition had been fierce this year with 23 bars and restaurants in the pueblo and on the playa taking part. As part of the judging panel I was amazed at how incredibly good almost all of the offerings were this year. The chefs at all the establishments deserve all the praise they get for really going to town on their tapas and putting Mojacar firmly on the culinary map.
The overall winners were as follows. Best special tapa: La Peseta, Mojacar Playa, which were meatballs wrapped in filo pastry with a mushroom and Marsala wine sauce was a revelation, est habitual tapa: Valery’s, Mojacar Playa and the best waiter going to Laura Munoz Segovia of Lola BBME’s.
Another superb event organised by ACEM (Mojacar Business Association,) and Richard is already salivating at the thought of next years competition.
