With Poppy Day, November 11, just a few week’s away, shops and business centre’s around Torrevieja have been receiving their collecting tins and supplies of Poppies so that supporters can wear these with pride over the next few months.
In order to raise further awareness and raise much needed funding, the Torrevieja Branch Of The Royal British Legion are holding a charity golf day on November 4 at El Plantio Golf Course.
A fun day is promised and players are asked to enter early to avoid disappointment. The cost is 55 euros which includes a buggy and a donation to RBL poppy fund.
Torrevieja RBL have acquired a signed flag from Sir Nick Faldo with a signed photograph, which will be made into a trophy.
The winner will receive the Sir Nick Faldo trophy for one year and it should be a fabulous day so please support this very worthy charity. To enter please e-mail your name and handicap to noeleastwell@yahoo.co.uk.
On a sadder note, during the Murcia war re-enactment day last Sunday, Branch Secretary lost a very important medal, his MBE, which was presented to him by the Queen Mother in April 1970.
If anyone has any news of contacts, or has found this medal please contact Douglas on 966 785 259. It obviously has huge sentimental value to Douglas and if anyone has any information, it would be most appreciated.
