Plans for two new shopping centres in Almeria Province

PROMOTER ‘Tejera’ is planning to create two new shopping centres in Almeria province, one in Huercal de Almeria and the other in the city.

Tejera built Almeria’s first shopping centre, La Cepa, which is now the location for several major retailers.

The first of the two projects is the 80,000m2 Los Naranjos shopping centre between El Potro roundabout and the ITV station in Huercal de Almeria, and the company has also promised to finance the widening of the road as well as creation of green areas, service lanes and a new roundabout.

The project has already got the approval of the Junta de Andalucia, and would have Almeria’s second Decathlon store.

The other project is Puertalmeraya, which is to be an open-air shopping centre with an area for small and medium shops, restaurants and leisure establishments, as well as a supermarket.

The company describes it as “a little city with commercial streets in a comfortable space adapted to the Mediterranean culture. Open to the south, with sea views and close to the city.”

This shopping centre is planned on a plot near the Autovia del Mediterraneo (A-7) on the Carretera de Ronda exit behind San Jose cemetery, and will have a 72,000m2 commercial area, plus 73,000m2 car park with capacity for 2,900 vehicles.

There are another three projects for shopping centres in Almeria city; La Rambla, which would include cinemas, spa and a gym; the Torrecardenas Commercial Park, and the commercial area planned in El Toyo.
