Cheers! Six out of ten enjoy weekend tipple

ALMOST six out of every ten people in Malaga Province drink at weekends. In fact alcohol and cannabis consumption in the province is the highest throughout Andalucia, statistics reveal.

Almost 85 per cent of people regularly drink alcohol, with 14.2 per cent of men drinking daily, but only 3.4 per cent of women. The Andalucia statistics revealed by Health and Social Welfare Minister Maria Jesus Montero also spelled out that despite the tendency for more to drink at weekends, fewer than four enjoy alcohol on weekdays as well.

Research has also shown that 36.9 per cent of Malaga residents have tried cannabis at least once. And a massive 80 per cent of those surveyed admitted that they knew alcohol and drugs could negatively affect health.
