CRIME STOP: Counterfeit was scored a goal from the authorities.
A GERMAN national aged 42 was held in Teulada for allegedly selling counterfeit clothes.
Around €40,000 in goods were seized by the Guardia Civil in the suspect’s apartment in Benissa and in Alicante Airport, including more than 500 football shirts and other items. The operation was still open at press time and so more people may be held, the authorities said. The suspect was believed to receive the counterfeit clothes in Bangkok (Thailand), from several post mail addresses in northern Alicante and Barcelona city. The items were then sold through the Internet and sent to other European countries.
