RE teacher faces jail for abusing 8 pupils

A RELIGION teacher is finally facing jail for abusing children years after parents first complained.

He is accused of continuous sexual offenses against eight children between 2003 and 2011.

And it is the parents themselves who have brought the prosecution years after they first alerted the school.

The parents from the Colegio Publico Virgen del Camino de Rubia de Valdeorras, Ourense, Galicia, complained to the Education Ministry, whose inspectors had him suspended from duty.

Now prosecutors, who are handling the case for the parents, are demanding a 19 year jail sentence and fines of between €2,000 and €4,000 for each child he allegedly abused.
