Police have confiscated 4,000 fake CDs and designer goods
THOUSANDS of fake CDs, DVDs, handbags, watches, sunglasses and toys have been seized in police swoops on street sellers.
El Campello local police have destroyed more than 4,000 counterfeit goods in 2012 as they targeted street sellers – known as looky looky men – more than 50 times. They trade by the beach promenade and sell fake designer items illegally.
Among the confiscated goods were about 1,300 CDs, 700 DVDs, 270 counterfeit leather bags and purses, 80 fake watches, 200 pairs of sunglasses, plus many toys and trinkets which do not meet the minimum standards of child safety. In total, according to data provided by the local police, they have destroyed more than 4,000 items.
