Jerez ready for MotoGP – “Gran Premio de España”

JEREZ DE LA FRONTERA is being promoted as an important tourist attraction during the motorcycle races. The Gran Premio de España held May 3 to 5 at the Jerez circuit in the province of Cadiz is recognised by the Junta and the Tourism board as an attraction for both national and international tourists.

To further the promotion of Andalucia the logo used by the tourist board has been placed on one of the bends of the circuit where television cameras are positioned.

there will be information both inside and outside the race circuit available to the public. Advertising will appear on special spots during transmission of the race on television channel Tele5 as well as insertions of publicity on the web, www.motogp.com.

Also, with the intention of familiarising tour operators with the area, a gala will be held at the Royal Andalucian School Of Equestrian Art on May 4 at 8pm.

The tourist board estimated that the last time that the MotoGP race was held in Jerez 184,000 people attended the three days of racing, putting the income from them at €43.5 million.

Jerez has held the event since 1987 and has held a total of 26 championships, making it an important venue on the racing calendar.

During the weekend of the races the hotels in Cadiz show an average occupation of 83 per cent, while Jerez De la Frontera had complete occupancy with 99.52 per cent. The rest of the surrounding localities also had similar figures.
