Elche football club expects takings of €1 million for the team’s recent match against Barcelona.
For the first time this season the stadium was full and the club now expects to be able to settle its most pressing debts.
Although the first team were paid in April, other employees and the youth teams are owed their March and April wages, club sources revealed.
Despite bumper ticket sales for the goal-less draw against Barca, the 21% IVA added-value tax will reduce this to just under €800,000.
Unlike the earlier Elche-Real Madrid match where non-members paid from €110 to €180 and season-ticket holder were charged between €30 and €60, prices were kept deliberately low.
Those without season tickets paid between €55 and €100, while subscribers paid between €15 and €40.
