NATIONAL POLICE in El Ejido, Almeria, have detained a 32-year-old man who had a European arrest warrant out in his name from the Romanian authorities. He is wanted in Romania to complete a 20-year prison sentence for international drug dealing.
The man is also wanted by the Almeria authorities for a traffic violation.
The drug dealing incident took place in 2012 when a police investigation revealed that the man had transported five kilos of cannabis from Spain to Romania by road.
Police detained him when they noticed that the van he was driving was being driven in an erratic manner and trying to get away from the police car they were in.
The man will remain in the custody of the National Police until all the paperwork can be completed to return him to Romania.
