An action-packed Christmas for Albox

ALBOX, through its Department of Sports and Culture, has presented its Christmas schedule.

Music, art, sport, entertainment and activities for children are featured throughout the town for the remainder of the month and up to January 6.

Every day there is a different activity or event planned so there is always something to take part in.

Among the activities are the awards for school competitions for Christmas card design, speed-reading and others.

In addition the Kings will be visiting the schools before they break up for the holiday period.

Some activities have already taken place, including the medieval market, which ran for three days in La Loma, showcasing gastronomy, period music and shows.

The town’s official ‘belen’ (nativity) display opened on Sunday December 21 in Calle Mendoza.

For sporting fans, December 28 sees the ninth edition of the popular San Silvestre race in Albox. Registration is available on the day from 9am until 10.30am, and racing starts at 11am from the Albox Centro Deportivo Agua y Salud. There are 14 categories in total, enabling everyone to have a chance at winning a prize.

Each runner should bring one kilogram of non-perishable food, which will be donated to Caritas charity for needy families after the race. The town will be out in force to support the runners as usual and it promises to be another fun-filled day.

“This is a well thought out programme for residents of all ages and interests,” said Councillor for Sports and Culture, Tito Carrillo. He continued: “During the holidays there are numerous activities you can enjoy in your free time with your family and friends. This is among the most complete cultural, leisure and sports programme in recent years.”
