CRUISE passengers placed Malaga as one of the top 10 destinations in Europe in surveys after visiting the city.

Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, Azamara Club Cruises and Pullmantur said that their passengers gave the port and city 8.8 marks out of 10 while Norwegian Cruise Line passengers gave it 7.9 out of 10 after visiting.

The results were revealed to Malaga representatives during a visit to the US where meetings were held with cruise lines to encourage them to include more stops in Malaga in their 2017 itineraries, which are being planned now.

Representatives from the port authority, tourism office and local cruise departments, accompanied by Monica Sanchez and Belen Gonzalez, heads of Spanish Tourism Offices in Miami and Los Angeles, visited cruise company headquarters in Miami, Orlando and Seattle.

Novelties at the port including a new ship refuelling service, a pioneering luggage transport service between the port and the airport and special docking prices were outlined to interest the companies, while new tourist attractions including the Pompidou and State Russian museums and the Caminito del Rey mountain trail were also described.
