ECOLOGISTS have expressed their satisfaction at a Supreme Court ruling upholding an Andalucian court’s refusal to approve a large development project. Ronda Council had appealed against the original court decision.
The project for Merinos Norte included golf courses, 800 homes and a luxury hotel, but thousands of people rejected the idea, saying there were insufficient water resources in the area.
Silvema Sarrania of Ronda-Ecologistas en Accion group claimed that a number of irregularities were found in the project and that developers had tried to buy support from councillors and locals.
