Malaga police seize cocaine worth €1m after cruise ship arrives

A TOTAL of 16 kilos of cocaine, worth approximately €1 million, were found by police carrying out checks on passengers on a cruise ship visiting Malaga Port.

The first batch, weighing four kilos, was found in a hidden compartment of a car National Police officers stopped after leaving the area of the docks where passengers had just disembarked.

Meanwhile Guardia Civil officers discovered another 12 kilos hidden amongst the possessions of two Argentinean men who had been travelling on the ship.

Cruises are becoming a popular way for organised trafficking gangs to transport drugs, the police report, with large amounts paid to holidaymakers to carry packages and a gang member travelling on board to supervise the carriers.
