INVESTMENT: Mayor Eduardo Dolon shows off the renovation plans for the Eras de la Sal.
OVER €1.18 million is being invested in Torrevieja’s Eras de la Sal area.
Mayor Eduardo Dolon said the work would include the completion of a pedestrian walkway along from the Paseo Vista Alegre and Paseo Maestro Velero Juan Bautista Buades connecting to Avenida Greforio Marañon. Work in the historic Eras de la Sal will include treatment and rehabilitation of the existing external walls, facades and roof of the Salinas Administration House and provide access to the loading dock.
The south wall will also be restored and a ramp and staircase at the west end of the pier will be created. The stone floor of the dock has been eroded from the sea conditions making the surface difficult to walk on and for wheelchairs, so that will be repaved.
The mayor said the completion of these works would be of great significance for the city; revitalising one of the most historic areas and completing the pedestrian route along the coastline.
Work is due for completion in 2016.
