Fire in abandoned Almuñecar cottage

A FIRE was sparked on Wednesday (April 29) in an abandoned cottage in calle Hurtado de Mendoza, next to the Almuñecar health centre.
The fire started on the upper floor of the house, which is usually occupied by homeless people. Fortunately, the property was empty and no one was hurt during the fire.
Neighbouring residents reported having heard an explosion.
The fire destroyed most of the abandoned house, also affecting palm trees in the garden and other plants belonging to nearby homes.
