A €600,000 boost paid for with European funds together with a Commonwealth contribution has been used to renovate the streets of Motril’s Varadero district and set up artificial grass in the football pitch.Mayor of Motril, Luisa Garcia Chamorro, the president of the Commonwealth of Costa Tropical municipalities, Jose Garcia Fuentes and other council representatives visited the works that are currently being finished.“One of the commitments I made when I became Mayor was improving the football pitch,” said Ms Herrera, who continued: “For many athletes, this was a necessary modification as matches had to be cancelled frequently when it rained.”
