THE CCOO trade union has denounced the poor state of the kitchen in the Son Espases hospital, which they claimed could potentially represent a hazard for patients. In a statement, they said that the situation had been explained to the regional councillor for Health, Marti Sansaloni, as well as the manager of the public hospital, Victor Ribot. The statement is accompanied by a series of pictures, which appear to depict waste water puddles on floors, as well as dead insects inside lamps. The trade union claim that the waste grinder machine discharges dirty water on to the floor of the facilities and workers are forced to step on this water to prepare the patient’s meals. The trade union has requested that the regional government of the Balearic Islands fix all deficiencies and ask for some to be held responsible if need be.
