SEVEN out of 10 Mijas urbanisations at risk of being affected by forest fires now have self-protection plans in place, the fire brigade has reported.
One of the areas of the Costa del Sol that has suffered the most over recent years, Mijas Council has been stressing the importance of these plans for residential complexes which help reduce risks by providing details of the areas and facilities on hand for firefighters.
Fire brigade leader David Bañasco said that of the 96 urbanisations outside the urban areas of Mijas, 70 have now lodged their plans, a considerable increase considering in April 2014 just 28 has done so.
