BLOOD donations in Alicante Province in the past five months have increased by 6.2 per cent over the previous year.According to the Transfusion Centre of the Community, 76,928 units of blood have been collected in the three Valencian provinces. Alicante collected 25,705 units thanks to donations from 3,734 people.Fifty-eight per cent of donors are men and 66 per cent are under 45 years of age and 34 per cent between 46 and 65 years.This week saw World Blood Donor Day, which serves to raise awareness of the need for blood and blood products and to thank those who donated on a voluntary basis and helped save lives.
