OPPOSITION parties at the Lorca Council claims a number of town residents have complained about the delay to the municipal pools’ opening for the summer season. The PSOE socialist party and Izquierda Unida-Verdes said that several residents had complained as they had been sent a letter to tell them the Torrecilla pool would not be opened on time for them to participate in activity programmes such as swimming or summer schools.“Many have been forced to visit the neighbouring village Puerto Lumbreras to obtain what they could not get in Lorca,” explained socialist councillor Jesus Mazuecos. “We believe it is irresponsible for the council not to be prepared for the opening of these facilities as it traditionally happens during the first days of July.”He also stressed his concern over the opening of other municipal pools in Zarcilla de Ramos and La Parroquia, which are hoped to be opened on time.
