Malaga’s glass challenge is on

MALAGA City has launched a new campaign aimed to increase the amount of glass recycled this summer by 359,000 kilos.
Ecovidrio, the company in charge of glass collection and recycling, is installing 47 containers across the city including 29 new additions near the beaches decorated with summer motifs to improve their appearance.
More than 100 local businesses have agreed to take part in the campaign, which looks to increase public awareness of the importance of recycling glass, and will be receiving special containers for their empties.
Last year the city recycled just over 3.9 million kilos of glass, an average of 6.89 kilos per inhabitant, and the council estimates that 35 per cent of the year’s glass is collected during the summer months.
