SEVENTY-FOUR per cent of Almeria province’s 280,564 drivers still have all their driving licence points.Unlike the method used in the UK where points are added to a driving licence, Spanish drivers lose them under the system that was introduced nine years ago.“Drivers not only face stiff fines but they know they can lose their licences once their points are used up,” said Jose Maria Mendez Olivares, head of the Provincial Traffic Authority.The fact that this has changed driving habits is reflected in the continually falling number of fatal accidents on the province’s road, Mendez said.
