Rockin’ Marbs

BOOGIE ROCK: Lead singer Francis Rossi on stage.

FORGET the Beatles, David Bowie, the Sex Pistols, Oasis and Shakin’ Stevens, because according to the Guinness Book Of Records, the most successful British rock act of all time is – no, really – Status Quo.

From Rockin’ All Over The World to Down Down, the aging rockers are behind some of the biggest hits of the 70’s and 80’s, a productive period peppered with records that may have walked a precarious line between greatness and daftness, but mostly fell the right way.

The band are currently on tour and took to the stage in Marbella for the first time in their history, sending an adoring crowd into raptures as they belted out a string of their most well-known tracks including Caroline, Whatever You Want and In The Army Now.

Unfortunately, 67-year-old rhythm guitarist Rick Parfitt was not on stage, as he continues his recovery from a recent heart attack suffered in Turkey, with his place ably filled by Irish guitarist Richie Malone.
