The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious.

A BRITISH holidaymaker named in local reports as 80-year-old John Winsor, died in a suspected drowning incident at the four-star Hotel Barceloa Cabo de Gata in the Retamar neighbourhood of Almeria on Saturday, October 15.

The accident occurred around midday, and he could not be revived by a lifeguard who dragged him from the water, nor an off-duty doctor who tried to help by performing CPR.

Paramedics confirmed that he had died shortly after their arrival, while the post-mortem results have not yet been made public.

It is currently unclear from where in the UK Mr Winsor had travelled from, or if he was holidaying with other people.
