A BRITISH airline pilot, who lives in Spain, was left in a coma after a motorbike crash in the north of the country.
Neil Cawse was riding through Tibidabo, a mountainous region near Barcelona, with two friends when he lost control of his Kawasaki motorbike on a bend just 3km into his ride.
The 34-year-old, from Devon, was airlifted to hospital by helicopter where he lay in a coma for several days before regaining consciousness and his memory.
Doctors removed fluid from his lungs, stemmed the flow of internal bleeding and worked on his broken ribs and fractured spine which will require further surgery.
Writing on his Facebook page Neil praised the support of his family and friends.
