Sevilla toddler admitted to hospital after consuming cocaine

THE parents of a two-year-old boy have been arrested after he was admitted to a Sevilla hospital due to consumption of cocaine and methadone.

Suffering from loss of consciousness and cyanosis (bluish or purplish discolouration of the skin or due to the tissues near the surface having low oxygen saturation) the toddler was taken to Valme hospital.

National Police detained the parents for the alleged crime of abandonment of a minor.

During the investigation, police discovered that the father was a drug addict with previous police records for drug trafficking and domestic ill-treatment and used the family home as a place to consume the narcotics.

Both parents have been released on bail, awaiting a court date.

The toddler, who has since been discharged, and his two brothers, five and six, have been placed in the custody of their paternal grandparents.
