THE Spanish military is the 20th most powerful in the world as of this year, according to a new ranking.
The Global Firepower Ranking ranked Spain one place below that which it occupied last year. The country came ahead of Canada and behind Australia.
The table ranks countries based on factors including their reserves of manpower, the strength of their armies, navies and air forces, their geography and how much they spend on defence.
The US, Russia and China came first, second and third respectively in this year’s ranking. Britain came eighth, behind South Korea and ahead of Turkey.
